About Susilo

Susilo Wibisono is a social psychologist with expertise in radical action, environmental action, and religious extremism. He completed his PhD in Social Psychology at the University of Queensland (UQ) in February 2021, with a thesis exploring religious identity and its association with collective action. Currently, he is a postdoctoral research fellow at UQ, contributing to an ARC Discovery Project on psychological implications of collective gridlock. Susilo has contributed to the field of extremism through innovative research and practical applications. He engaged in a project involving systematic review of the misuse of internet by extremist groups, supported by the Australian Department of Home Affairs. The review provided critical insights into how digital platforms are exploited to support radical ideologies and actions. Building on this knowledge, Dr Wibisono co-designed the Dynamix Matrix of Extremism and Terrorism (DMET) aimed at understanding extremist movements in digital world.
