Gerard Gill is an independent researcher and analyst. He received his doctorate from Curtin University’s School for Human Rights Education, where he studied the use of information and communication technologies by social movements. His current research concerns the far right and conspiracism in Australia.
Previously, Gerard has been involved in a number of research and advisory projects as a consultant. He was part of a small team providing advice to the Office of the eSafety Commissioner on the implementation of the OnlineSafety Act 2021 and worked as a researcher on a Countering Violent Extremism program for the Department of Homes Affairs during the height of the Islamic State’s activities. Currently, he is part of a research project with Deakin University exploring the intersection of extremism, mis/disinformation and natural disasters.
