The AVERT Research Network is excited to open registration for this year’s AVERT Research Symposium, an in-person event at Deakin Downtown in Melbourne, Australia, 21-22 November 2022.

This year’s theme is ‘interventions in countering violent extremism.’ The word ‘intervention’ comes from the Latin, meaning ‘coming in between.’ In this Symposium we aim to develop our understanding and practice of what we are trying to ‘come between’ in relation to violent extremism and how we design and apply intervention frameworks and mechanisms that meet contemporary needs and challenges.

The 2022 AVERT Research Symposium will engage with the latest research, evidence, insights and practice perspectives on CVE intervention, bringing together Australian and international researchers, practitioners and policymakers at the forefront of the field. We are delighted to have Dr John Horgan, Distinguished University Professor at Georgia State University’s Department of Psychology, as this year’s keynote speaker.

The full conference program will be available for registered attendees by 7 November 2022.
