FAQs

  • We research a wide array of topics related to terrorism, radicalisation, extremism and violent extremism.

    We focus on some of the big challenges around violent extremism and terrorism, including:

    1. How can we reduce the appeal and take-up of violent extremism before people engage?

    2. How can we divert those already on pathways to extremist violence, and support them to deradicalise?

    3. What are the best ways to disengage actors who have already committed to violent extremist action?

    We bring together community members, organisations, government agencies and academics. We partner with these sectors to deliver:

    • design of measurements and instruments;

    • qualitative analysis and insights;

    • participatory and collaborative research design and methods;

    • social policy research;

    • methodology assessment and review;

    • ethically collected, analysed and managed research data;

    • multi-method and multi-discipline approaches to designing and managing large and/or complex research projects;

    • rigorous commitment to peer review, dialogue and debate.

    We are committed to participatory and collaborative research with communities and government. They have central roles in creating knowledge and developing local and regional responses to the multi-level challenges posed by terrorist ideology and action.
